· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements of articles to be made.
· Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes,and other materials.
· Trim joints and fit parts and sub-assemblies together to form complete units
· Sand wooden surfaces, apply veneer, stain and finish products, prepare and apply laminated plastics.
· Set up and operate woodworking machines and use hand tools to cut, shape and form parts and components.
· Build custom cabinetry, solid wood doors and other architectural woodwork for commercial and upscale residences.
· Work in a craft based work shop doing real woodworking, not manufacturing high volume cabinetry or other products.
Cabinetmaker Trade Certification; Joiner (Cabinetmaker) Trade Certification preferred, but not required. Experience is an asset and will be recognized. 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice may apply and will be considered.
Wages: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour - based on experience
