Position: Guard
Reporting to: Head Guard
Term: Full Time and Part Time permanent positions available
Shifts: Typically 10:45am – 6:15pm, and from time to time evening event shifts are required.
The Museum is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Wage: Starting at $23.00 per hour, $24.00 per hour for individuals possessing a security license
Location: Whistler, British Columbia
Guards provide institutional security for the art and educate visitors ensuring established security and safety protocols are
upheld and enforced. Considerable independent judgment and action are exercised within established guidelines. This
position requires flexibility in scheduling, shifts and duties may vary depending on the operations of the Museum.
Responsibilities
• Monitor artwork in galleries ensuring established security and safety protocols are upheld and enforced.
• Communicate Museum rules and guidelines to visitors in a polite and courteous manner.
• Enforce and implement security protocols, emergency procedures and institutional regulations regarding the
proper use and evacuation of the facility to visitors and third party user-groups.
• Report fires, acts of vandalism, theft, illegal entry and any other unauthorized or irregular activity to a supervisor
and prepare routine security and incident reports as required.
• Assist with Museum’s open/close procedures in compliance with established guidelines.
• Assist Museum staff with Museum access, site maintenance and event execution, as required.
• Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
• Possess and maintain Security License, an asset but not required.
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR, an asset but not required.
• Be over the age of 19.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to deal courteously with the public.
• Ability to exercise initiative and make decisions in accordance with Museum policies, guidelines and protocols.
• Second language is an asset.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength for duties listed above and able to be on your feet for
extended periods of time, carry up to 50lbs and assist with moving tables and chairs.
• Must be in a state of health consistent with the ability to perform the required safety and security tasks.
• Eyesight with corrective lenses, must not be poorer than 20/20. Applicants must be free of any active or
progressive ocular disease.
• Must be able to hear normal conversations at a distance of ten feet.
• Criminal record check will be required.
