Staff Accountant Full Time

The Staff Accountant is directly responsible for performing data entry and related duties in recording the daily transactions of property management and owner distribution. This includes maintaining the advanced deposit ledgers, owner’s statements, cash payments and hotel transactions.

The Staff Accountant will also ensure the timely and accurate processing of bank reconciliations, travel agent commissions, strata billings and balance sheet reconciliations. This position involves diplomatic interaction to provide billing information and support in order to provide accurate information to the owners of all properties maintained by Silver Star Holidays.

Responsibilities
Record daily transactions from property management hotels
Reconcile and submit payment for non SSHL properties
Process travel agent commissions and submit for payment
Create and send out strata billings each month
Reconcile and process owners statements including monthly NRT filing
Reconcile and process annual NR4 filings and statements for owners
Reconcile bank accounts
Reconcile clearing accounts and other balance sheet accounts as required
Reconcile and balance hotel ledgers and follow up on any outstanding balances and issues with Accommodation Manager
Process A/R payments for miscellaneous administration deposits
Process daily cash outs from Central Reservations and hotels
Process daily cash outs from the Resort (off season and summer)
Support for cash office in Winter season
Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
Qualifications &Skills
Business Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
Experience in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations.
Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies
