Job Description:
Guiding half day trips on the Illecillewaet River in Revelstoke, BC. Class 3-4 whitewater, paddle raft guiding, stern mount oar frame and cat rafts. A minimum of 2 years guiding class 3+ whitewater is required as well as first aid and river rescue certification. Some training of new guides is required.
Work days begin and end in downtown Revelstoke. Trips run twice daily.
Wages:
For Raft Guiding, you will make $105 – $140 per trip (roughly $23 – $30 per hour) plus tips. Trip rate is based on experience. For occasional maintenance repairs, $20 per hour.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
• Organize and assemble equipment required for each trip
• Trip lead or guide groups of guests on class 3-4 whitewater
• Deliver safety briefings and demonstrations, instruct guests on rafting techniques, control large groups of guests in a wilderness environment
• Enforce safety rules and regulations on and off the river
• Provide high level of service to clients on and off the river
• Guides are expected to interact with both guests and fellow Apex team members in a professional and courteous manner
Requirements:
• Must have 2+ years of raft guiding experience on class 3+ whitewater
• Current Swiftwater Rescue certification
• BC River Outfitters Association Guiding License or equivalent whitewater raft guiding license
• Current First Aid certification
Established in 1993 Apex Rafting is a small company that thrives on providing a great team atmosphere and an exceptional outdoor experience. You’ll be working with 2-6 guides per trip, guiding guest groups ranging from two to 50 guests per trip.
